Our island, Our future
In an age of greater awareness of the negative impact pollution has on our planet, tourism is one of the main culprits: transportation, over-development and depletion of natural resources help to make sure it is not an environmentally-friendly industry. Skopelos relies on tourism and is faced with these issues -- while attempting to maintain its own cultural heritage and a clean living environment. Madro Travel has a policy of raising the awareness of holiday makers to things they can do here on Skopelos which can make a ‘real’, and positive, difference to the destination and the people living here. As an agency, we wish to actively encourage discussion on and participation in sustainable activities on Skopelos. Madro Travel aims to promote "sustainable tourism." (nature and wildlife activities), ecotourism (promoting yet protecting natural areas from mass-tourism and development), and agrotourism (educational holidays in agriculture and culture to sustain rural population). In these ways, tour operators, local businesses and visitors alike can genuinely appreciate and respect the culture and natural landscape of our island. A holiday spent exploring the countryside and villages, learning about the production of local cuisine and crafts can be a refreshing and rewarding break from city life. The informed traveller can also be directly contributing to the sustainable tourism effort by supporting the communities working to preserve their local traditions. Remember, if we all work together, our message will reach more people, change more minds, and touch more hearts.

This small complex of 9 apartments has a superb position on a hill just two minutes walk away from one of Skopelos' most scenic spots.

Agnondas is a lovely fishing village with a very sheltered position, and as such is used as the secondary port for Skopelos town if Northerly winds prevent the boats and hydrofoils docking there.

As well as calm and crystal clear turquoise seas, Agnondas has three fresh fish tavernas right on the water's edge, and one beach cafe. The shingle beach is small, and popular with families with small children. The final element of Agnondas' charm is the lush green pine forests which border it on three sides.

Lithanemon Apartments are perfect for those wanting relaxing holidays right by the sea, and with easy access on foot to quiet coves, a sandy beach (Limnonari is 15 minutes walk away), and excellent eateries. They also have the luxury of having their own large freshwater pool.

Car hire is not necessary as there is a minimarket and a bus service, with regular services into town and to the other beaches of the island.

The nine units are housed in two buildings, and all have lovely views both to the sea, and to the green hills.

All have air conditioning (although cool sea breezes mean that you will most likely not need to use it), TV, their own spacious balcony or terrace, bathroom with bath and shower, and a kitchen area fully equipped for the preparation of simple meals. All the units have been very comfortably furnished and decorated to a high standard.

The top building comprises three apartments.

The upper level houses the biggest apartment 'Pleioni' which is a very spacious family-sized unit, sleeping up to six people.

Pleioni has its own enclosed yard, with outdoor dining table and bench seating shaded by a pergola, barbecue, outside sink, hammock, and bathroom.

It has an open plan living room-kitchen; the living room area has a divan sofa-bed, traditional fireplace, and french windows opening onto sea-facing balcony.

The kitchen is fully equipped. There are two double bedrooms, one with French windows onto a second sea-facing balcony, one single bedroom, and bathroom.

On the lower floor are two units, 'Thetis' and 'Kalypso'.

Thetis can sleep up to 4 people and has one double bedroom plus two divan-beds in the living room-kitchen area.

Kalypso, a spacious open plan studio, can sleep up to two people.

The second building houses 6 units. Of these, four have very similar layouts to Thetis, and can sleep two to four people. These are called 'Asteropi', 'Meropi', 'Keloni' and 'Ilektra'.

On the lowest level is 'Alkioni', which is a studio for 2 people, and

'Tavgeti'. This is a spacious apartment for up to 6 people; it has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and two divan beds in the living room-kitchen area.

The Apartments are superb accommodation, with all the ingredients for memorable holidays for both couples and families.

Please contact us for availability, stating the name of the accommodation.
