In the heart of the island, close to the top of the highest mountain, Delphi, are these fascinating sarcophagoi - four tombs carved out of solid rock, with boulder lids. Its not sure exactly how old these tombs are: some historians opt for Roman, whilst others believe they are Neolithic. Supporting the latter theory is the fact that they resemble Neolithic graves that have been found in Evia.
The views are beautiful from here. Below you will see the monastery of Aghios Efstathios, the little hamlet of Karia, the sea, and Alonissos. To get to Sendoukia, you will either need to be a keen walker -from town it should take around 2.5 hours - or to have your own transport.
